HOSANNA

The project "Holistic and sustainable abatement of noise by optimized combinations of natural and artificial means (HOSANNA)" started in December 2009. It is a collaborative project under EC FP7 (Theme 7.2, Sustainable Surface Transport). It aims to deliver a cost-effective set of engineering methods for reducing road and railway traffic noise in the outdoor environment, which show positive effects on the environment as a whole. The project focuses on noise abatement along the sound propagation path, dealing with greening of buildings and the use of vegetation on other urban and rural surfaces, innovative barriers including recycled materials, and treatments of the ground and the road surface. The acoustics group participates in this project under the umbrella of IBBT. More information can be found on the project website.
